April 28, 2011 - This is the drive that leads up to Boone Hall Plantation which you see peeking through the trees. Boone Hall was the site of several movies including parts of The Notebook, Queen starring Halle Berry, and probably most famous, the series North and South starring Patrick Swayze. The drive is actually about a mile long. We were about three fourths of the way there when I took this shot. I just love the majestic live oaks that line the drive. These oaks date back to 1743. We were told that it takes 100 years for them to reach their height, and then another 100 years to form the arch. Amazingly, only 1 tree was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
